Film Tax Subsidies

The allure of Hollywood is almost irresistible. Everyone wants to see a movie star up close. Everyone dreams that they might someday be in the movies, if only as an extra. When the movies come to town, it somehow validates your community as a special place (more).

Casinos and Slots

Casinos don’t produce new wealth; they simply move it around, capturing spending that would have otherwise occurred at our local restaurants, theaters and taverns. A vote for casino gambling is a vote to sacrifice small businesses, local jobs and hometown character to regional mega-entertainment complexes (more).

Reforming the Legislative Process

From the moment I entered the House in January, 2007 it was clear that all of the power was vested in the officer of Speaker. Whatever power members have is on loan from leadership and comes with strings. This has lead to a go-along to get-along culture (more).

Transparancy

A hallmark of good government is transparency. Without the ability to know where and how our tax dollars are being spent we can't be sure they are being spent wisely (more).
